DAY SKIPPER COMBINED

RYA Course: Day Skipper Practical (Tidal) + the necessary theory (taught on-board the yacht)

This is a seven-day combined theory and practical course.

This course includes the Day Skipper Practical course and it has the same objectives and conclusion. Only the starting point is different.

Prior to the Day Skipper Practical course, it is necessary to have some basic knowledge of navigation, charts, tides and rules of the road (the emphasis is on "basic"!). The ideal way to gain this is by attending a Day Skipper Shorebased course, but for some people this is not feasible.

We simply extend the Day Skipper Practical course by two days to give us time to teach you the theory that you need. You stay on the yacht while you are doing this - in fact we sometimes interleave the theory lessons with the start of the practical work (so that you don't get bored!).

We recommend that you do some of your own studying beforehand, e.g. with the aid of our On-line Theory Class.

The practical side of the course is described in Day Skipper Practical.

At the end of the Day Skipper Combined course you will get a Course Completion certificate for Day Skipper Practical in the normal way. (You don't get a certificate for the shorebased course, but actually you will never need that ticket anyway, once you have the practical certificate.)
