Websites for small enterprises

This is a service designed for the several small enterprises near where I live, in Baurnafea, Castlewarren.

Many of these small businesses - craftspeople etc - would benefit from having their own web sites. More and more people are getting Broadband, which means they look for just about everything on the web. So a website is an incredibly effective way to get the word out about your business, craft etc. 

AND - you can express yourself exactly the way you want on your own website - colour, style, pictures - it's YOUR message.

The trouble is, web site development can be very expensive - but it needn't be.

The Deal

I am equipped to develop websites from home – so I am another small home-based enterprise myself. I am very aware that people cannot afford to spend large amounts of money, and frankly it needn't take very long to make something that is ideal for your business. 

Here’s what I offer:

  • For €99 I will develop a resonably simple website, which will be totally suitable for your enterprise.
  • For a further €9 per month I will host this website on space that I have bought, and undertake any changes and updates you wish to make.
  • If you don’t wish to make any changes, I will host it for €3 per month.
  • (If you want a very much more complex website - and there is no limit to this if you really want to go for it - we discuss prices.  For a full day of my time doing this I would charge about €100)

How It Works

You go to a service provider (e.g. Lets Host on www.letshost.ie) and buy the domain name of your choice.  You tell them that traffic to that domain simply needs to be directed to a web address. Don't worry if you are new to this - I can help you with all that stuff, but it's important that YOU choose, and own, YOUR domain name (www.mycraftname.ie).

You give me:

  • pictures and words to go on your site (I can scan photographs and do diagrams)
  • an idea of what you want the site to look like, and how you want it to work (we can discuss this and look at examples). You can express this in any way you like: why not paint it, if you're a painter!

I build a simple web site, we look at it together and get it exactly how you want it. Once you are satisfied with it (and not before), you pay me the fee (€99) and it goes live, with your domain name.

The domain name is YOURS, and the developed web site is YOURS, so you have complete flexibility regarding arrangements for hosting.

You then have 3 choices:

  • If you wish to pay €9 per month, I will host it and make a reasonable number of updates for you. This is recommended, because it enables you to keep your website up-to-date and fresh.
  • Alternatively for €3 per month I will host it with no changes / updates.  This is a very low cost solution.
  • Or if you don’t wish to do either of these, you can make your own arrangements for hosting, and upload your own changes: you can make this choice at any time, because YOU own the website AND the domain name.

Dee's website is simple, clear and gives a friendly and professional image.

It comprises a single page, with navigation by topic (Workshops, Advice & Design ...), and in addition we use downloadable files for detailed information (jobs for the month, polytunnel information).
